The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick), they use intelligent mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. auto vacuum cleaner doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to change the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. auto vacuum did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the degree of dirt they are.
If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
